Update On Build A Niche Store Project
Two days ago I registered the domain “cellphonejet.com” planning on using Build A Niche Store (BANS) to build an eBay affiliate site. The site will feature listings of cell phones and cell phone related accessories.
I am currently at the researching stage of finding good keywords to build the site around. Since I know quite a lot about cell phones, I believe it’s a good decision choosing this niche. Plus mostly money will be made by taking the percentage commission of each sale, and cell phones are high ticket items so I can make more from each sale.
I’ve also thought of my short-term (3 mo) goals for my Build A Niche Store (BANS) project:
To have 5 niche sites focusing on 5 completely different markets.
To have $100 monthly profit from each niche site. Total $500 monthly income from 5 sites.
To spend no more than $100 on PPC for all sites.
To have traffic come largely from natural search instead of PPC.
I will be focusing on these goals and post details on the process and the result regularly.

Ronald,
I’m looking forward to hearing the results of your BANS project. Based on my own experience, I believe your income estimates may be a bit conservative.
If you can find a good niche and know how to promote it without spending too much money, you should be able to make at least $500 per month from just one site. I have one site that is performing that well.
The only concern going forward is the growing number of BANS users. You must be creative to stand apart from the crowd. The system’s template-based design provides a great way to easily customize the look of a site.
One thing that’s seldom mentioned is the need for traffic once the site is built. I’m sure many newcomers have the idea that “if you build it, they will come.” It’s true that they will come, but you must first provide them a path to locate you. This is the critical factor to your success with BANS.

Gary:
Thank you for your advice. Good niches are not too hard to find. What I am concern about is the traffic. I don’t really think PPC is a really good traffic source.
$500 per mo per site is really good income. How long ago you had that site?

Hi Ron, thanks for stopping by my site. I like your blog here. I’ll be curious to see how you report back on your BANS store. YOu can see that I’ve had about $50 in January alone without any promotion aside from organic search. of course, I think my sites suffered from the sandbox problem pretty bad, I was getting 100 hits daily for the 2nd week of a new site, and now I’m lucky if I get 3 hits a day from yahoo. Best of luck, keep in touch. I’ll subscribe to your RSS, you can go grab mine as well!

Thank you for subscribing. I am still at the learning stage of BANS. Your blog is very useful especially for me. I will update on the progress of my BANS store really soon.
