Local Outlet Shopping

Recently figured out there are retail outlets in Greater Vancouver. Me and Janice went to the one located in New Westminster. It is called the Queensborough Landing Outlets. It has some good shops like CK Jeans and Aldo and some big box stores like Best Buy and Walmart. We have found some good deals in the CK Jeans store. Instead of going across the border to the Seattle Premium Outlets, we can now spend a short day shopping in local outlets. Well, local outlets are still nothing compared to the ones in the states.

Bye Seagate, Hello Western Digital

Last week one of my Seagate 500GB 7200.11 hard drives died unexpectedly. I was so shocked because it was only 6 months old and I used it to store all my backup files. After hours of searching and I found out that Seagate 7200.11 drives have firmware bugs that will return a Busy error to the system. I believed my drive had that problem and hence the whole system including the BIOS refused to detect it. Data recovery on my own is impossible. There are DIY ways to fix the problem and get the data back. If you are also suffering from the same problem, you can go here to see the DIY solution. It doesn’t look that difficult to fix it on my own, but I just don’t want to risk it. I would rather send it back to Seagate and see what they can do.

Never buy Seagate again...

Never buy Seagate again...

This terrible event had me lost all my respect for Seagate. As a result, I had purchased a Western Digital Black 1TB hard drive to replace the dead Seagate. It is now running quite well. A little louder than the old Seagate drive but it seems to load faster. Hope it will last way longer than 6 months.

Hope this one will last...
